What is 'target language'?

In Bible translation, the term "target language" refers to the specific language into which the Bible or biblical texts are being translated. This is the language spoken by the audience who will be reading or listening to the translated scripture.

1. Translation Goal: The target language is the language you want to translate the Bible into. For example, if you are translating the Bible from Hebrew to Swahili, Swahili is the target language.
2. Audience's Language: It’s the language that the people who will read the Bible understand best.

So, in Bible translation, when you hear "target language," it means the language that the Bible is being translated into so that more people can read and understand it in their own language.
