How do I complete a Language Foundations translation task in Woven?

A step-by-step guide to completing Language Foundations translation tasks

From your Dashboard, choose the Language Foundations module to work in. If the status is shown as 'In Progress' or 'Ready,' you know that there are assignmentss to be completed in that module.

In each module, the different types of assignments (Translate, Edit, Review, etc.) are listed.  Each assignment has a group of tasks to be completed.  The progress bar (see image, below) shows how many tasks are remaining in each assignment.

Click on the Translation Assignment you would like to work on.

The task list appears. You can either select a task to work on by clicking on the individual task on the left side of the screen, or by clicking 'Select One...' on the right side of the screen.

If you select an individual task, the workspace will open up on the left side of the screen, and the text to be worked on will appear on the right side of the screen, along with any verses immediately before or after it.

In the task workspace, the Source Language of the text is displayed, and a white box for the Target Language is shown underneath.  Read the Source Language text carefully, as well as the verse before and after, and then click on the white box to enter the Target Language text.

You may also leave a note in the space provided - perhaps there is a word you weren't sure about, or maybe you have a question.  This is where you can jot those down.

When you are done adding the Target Language text (and any notes), click 'Complete.'  If you begin another task before you mark the current task 'Complete', your work will not be saved.  You can still edit any task that is marked 'Complete.'

NOTE: if no text is entered into the Target Language box, you will not be able to mark the task as completed.

The task list will automatically advance to the next task, and the completed task will move to the bottom of the task list.  You can also use the scroll bar to the right of the task list to jump ahead and work on a task further down.  Translation tasks do not have to be completed in the order listed.

A helpful feature in the task list is the ability to 'bookmark' a task.  Maybe there is a task you have questions about that you want to come back to later - clicking on the 'bookmark' to the right of the task will help you to find it again easily.  NOTE:  Adding a bookmark will not save any text entered in the Target Language or Notes boxes.

Another way to select tasks to work on is via the 'Select One...' button on the right side of the screen. If there is a pink dot next to a book name, that means that there are tasks available to work on in that book.

Click on the book name you want to work in, and all the tasks in that book will appear.

The chapters for that book are shown in a row at the top.  If there is a pink dot next to the chapter number, that means that chapter has tasks that need to be completed.  You can either click on the chapter number or scroll down through the text using the scroll bar on the far right.

Complete the task in the same way as described above.

When you have completed all of the tasks in the task list, click on 'Complete Assignment' at the top right corner of the screen.

NOTE:  Once you have clicked 'Complete Assignment,' you will not be able to edit any tasks.

NOTE: If all the tasks have not been completed, you will not be able to click on 'Complete Assignment.' A notification will appear, letting you know how many tasks you still have left to complete (see example below).
